Today marks the 35th anniversary of Game Eight of the 1972 Summit Series, where Paul Henderson scored with 34 seconds left to give Canada a 6-5 victory and the final edge over the USSR in this most seminal of international hockey series.

Joe Pelletier, the mastermind behind 1972SummitSeries.com, has assembled some special coverage to mark the anniversary, including essays on Canadian national team jerseys and those of the Soviets, plus broader social commentary on how the Summit Series may have impacted on the political prospects of Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and Soviet Premier Leonid Brezhnev.

Interesting point of view. Wondering what you think of it’s implication on society as a whole though? People obviously get frustrated when it begins to affect them locally. I’ll check back to see what you have to say.
